LISA TRAHAN accordion
Lisa was raised in Scott, Louisiana and comes from a long history of French culture and music. Her father, Harry Trahan, played for many years in the dance halls of Louisiana and Texas, and often played at home for the family. Other musical members of the family include Harry's brother, Willie T., a great swamp-pop saxophonist and singer; and Bixy Guidry, Lisa's great-grandmother's brother, who recorded Cajun music in the 1920's. Lisa is a member of the 2-time, Grammy nominated, group the Magnolia Sisters. She currently resides in a historic home in Grand Coteau, Louisiana, with her daughter, Renée.
HENRY HAMPLE violin
Henry is currently one of the busiest Cajun fiddlers in Southwest Louisiana, playing in at least five Cajun bands, sometimes all in one weekend! He has also toured with Jesse Lége, Sheryl Cormier, and Ray Abshire. He was nominated for the Cajun French Music Association's Fiddler of the Year award in 2010, and won their Excellence Award in 2014. Henry is also well-known as a music teacher, and is the founding director of Louisiana Folk Roots' Cajun & Creole Summer Camp for Kids.
SHANNON COMEAUX-AUCOIN guitar
Shannon is new on the music scene. Since she was in middle school, she and her parents frequented nearly every Cajun dance hall and festival in Louisiana, where she was musically inspired by many artists, including Steve Riley & the Mamou Playboys, Paul Daigle & Cajun Gold, and Adam Hebert. She picked up the guitar when she was in college and has been playing and singing ever since. Shannon grew up next to her grandmother, who spoke mainly French, which gives her a unique advantage of having one of the most authentic accents in Cajun music today!
LOUIE AUCOIN bass
Louie is the grandson of the legendary accordionist Cyprien Landreneau of Mamou, Louisiana, who recorded in the 1950's and 1960's and played a key role in the revival of Cajun French music. Louie was the original bass player for the T-Salé Cajun Band. While studying electrical engineering at LSU in the late 1990's, he designed and built a single-string tub bass with the help of his good friend, Jonathan Bettevy. He used the tub bass to record LISA TRAHAN et L'ESPRIT CADIEN'S first CD, "If Those Shoes Could Talk," which gives the recording a one-of-a-kind rhythm and style!
KENNY ALLEMAN drums
Kenny is a professional drummer and is Cajun through and through! He has recorded and played with many local artists, including Hadley Castille, Hunter Hayes, the Magnolia Sisters, and the Lucky Playboys, just to name a few. He specializes in Louisiana music and he cannot be "beat" on the drums!
